Why do we treat everything like its more important than what is really important?

Updated: May 25, 2021

I believe a lot of missteps we do in life maybe because of how we prioritize things. We make sure to put good gas and the best of oil in our vehicles. We wear the best of clothes and even stand in lines forever to get the new Xbox or PlayStation on Black Friday. We also spend what is needed to impress people that do not care about us but when it comes to our food and water intake, we will put anything in our system whether its healthy or not.

You must have a sense of urgency with eating the correct foods. I use to laugh when I heard my family say, after they finished eating some of the low quality food they paid for they would stop. That’s like me realizing that I have been eating poison but since I brought the poison, I need to finish consuming all of it , before I can start the process of saving my life.

I believe that most of us will eventually realize how important it is to feed our body with the best of fuel but if we come to this realization too late, we could have developed diseases from our poor choices of nourishment. Some might say they want to eat what they want, to enjoy life. The only reason they like foods that are bad for them is because they got their body used to it. True enjoyment is when you eat food that improves your body and mind. If you ask people that have been eating bad foods and now are depending on medications, the wise of them will tell you, that the food they thought that brought them so much enjoyment, was not worth their quality of life.

We put insurance on our car, on our phones and even on our house but no life insurance on ourselves. We get a screen protector as soon as we buy our phones but we tell the life insurance agent to call us back in two months. After losing one of the house's incomes or losing the only income, if things are not in place it could hurt your family. Some families lose their home, have to take on unexpected burial expenses. They have to sacrifice their children's education, empty out their life savings while they're in the process of grieving. Some might say they can't afford life insurance but the truth is just like your car insurance, you can't afford not to have it. Just imagine if you we're not forced to get car insurance and you had an accident, this could destroy your life. Well, what about the lives of your love ones you left behind? You may go your whole life without a car accident but you will eventually transition. Your life partner should not be left with the burden of financial struggles after you have transitioned. Your love ones at their time of grieving should not be left with this responsibility.

We must protect our health and at the same time protect our family.
